Stepantsminda is a small town in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region of north-eastern Georgia. Historically and ethnographically, the town is part of the Khevi province. It is the center of the Kazbegi Municipality.

Day 1

Tbilisi – Zugdidi – Mestia.
Meeting at airport (hotel) and departure to Svaneti. On the way to Svaneti You will make several stops. Arrival to Zugdidi – administrative center of Samegrelo. You will visit Dadiani Palaces and History Museum. Lunch at Zugdidi. Driving up to the Caucasus Mountains and en-route stop near Enguri Dam to enjoy the view. Arrival to Mestia. Dinner. Overnight.

Day 2

Mestia – Chaladi – Mestia.
In the morning we drive (30min) and trek to Chaladi Glacier. We walk through beautiful valleys and the forest first before we get a glimpse of the glacier. Next destination is to the highest permanently inhabited village in Europe – Ushguli. Continue to to the foot of Mt. Shkhara. A beautiful walk will bring us to Shkhara Glacier where the Enguri River starts. After returning to Ushguli we drive back to Mestia. Dinner and overnight in Mestia.

Day 3

Svaneti Museum of History and Ethnoraphy.
Svaneti Museum of History and Ethnoraphy. History of Museum of Svaneti counts almost one century. After rehabilitation of the museum, exhibition halls were equipped in the modern way under the latest standards. There were created restoration laboratories and storages. Now museum has 6 permanent exposition halls. Visitors have amazing opportunity to travel inside the museum and see exponents discovered during archeological excavations and numismatic samples. Museum has special halls of Christian treasure, where visitors have opportunity to see IX-XVIII century masterpieces of world importance such as: Icon of the Forty Sebastian Martyrs, Embroidered Byzantine Icon, Venetian Cross, jug donated by Queen Tamar, earliest remaining sample of illustrated manuscript- Adishi Gospels (897) and etcetera. The last exhibition hall in the museum is dedicated to the exponents of Georgian Ethnography.
Next walk up to the tower-museum Margiani. Lunch at local restaurant. Villages Latari and Lemjeri. Overnight in Mestia.
